First Day Filming (Abdul)

Our first day way very productive and enjoyable but stressful. We woke up 5am in the morning to go film the time-lapse at Primrose Hill, as you can see from the first 2 videos. But, unfortunately the day was very cloudy and we didn't see the Sun come up. Also, our shoot was disrupted as we kept on getting people in the frame, not from a distance, but close up which also ruined it. Furthermore, as there were many dogs, they also got in the way of the shoot. This means we are going to have to return again to film.

Later on in the day, we went to Oxford Street. We filmed 3 other time-lapses of Jamal and Devon in the middle island of the street. It took a lot of attempts to make it good, but in the end, it did work out.

Andrew Goodwin

Research into London Eye location (Jamal)

In one of our shot ideas we were hoping to get an over the shoulder time lapse of the London going around whilst it is lit up. The screen shot is of the closing and opening times of the London eye rotations. I chose to look this up because in order to get the best shots possible for the idea that we had, the skyline has to be as bright as possible and the surrounding area has to be dark. So its best to leave it as late as possible to achieve our desired shot.

PITCH 17- SOCIAL MEDIA (FARIS)

Our Twitter Account

We have set up a twitter account that will be used for documenting our progress with our music video idea through taking pictures, videos and tweeting whenever we have an update

PITCH 16- RISK ASSESSMENT (JAMAL)

1.) Within the production of our music video there are a number of risks and dangers involved.
Whilst we are filming for the BMX scene there are risks involved, the actors might fall over and hurt them selves or hurt others if the actors make a mistake and cycle into them. One way we could reduce the risk of this happening is purely just being careful, if we take care in what we are doing, there is a lower chance of anything bad happening.

2.) Also during the Rugby scene there are also a number of risks involved. One example of a risk involved in filming the Rugby scene is that the sport is quite physical and if a larger person runs into someone, they could cause damage. One way we could reduce the chance of this happening is not play, or act too ruff and to be careful.

3.) There are a number of risks involved in the transportation of the equipment. One risk is that the equipment can be taken from us by force by someone trying to rob us. This is a risk due to the fact that the equipment being used is expensive which in turn makes it desirable and likely to be taken by force. A way we can limit this risk is by travelling in big groups and never transporting the equipment individually. Another risk involving the transportation of the equipment is that whilst in transit the equipment might get damaged. One way we can limit this from happening is by taken extra care when handling the equipment whilst its on the move.

4.) Within the party scene, we will not be drinking anything other than soft drink. This is because alcohol is damaging to health and is also illegal for under age consumption. Instead of alcoholic beverages we will be drinking Coca Cola. This ties into our aims for product placement within our music video.

5.) Within the filming of the boxing scene there are also risks involved. If our boxer (Ryan) punches the boxing bag incorrectly he might damage his wrists. One way we could limit the risks involved in this is by making sure he is using the right technique and his hands are padded and wrapped.

AB- Blogging health check reflection

I got my first blogging health check mark which was 13 and was roughly a C grade.
The main weakness on my blogs is the level of detail in each blog and the way it differs. This means that some are very detailed and some are not. Meaning it lowers my average. So to boost my grade I have to make all my blogs consistently detailed to gain the higher marks. Another weakness of mine is the order in my blogs which Improved so it is in chronological order.

AB-Website Design

Our Website is full of vivid colours which is a type of synergy throughout our media products as we are not necessarily trying to promote colours, but the idea of being happy and enjoying life and to not let work or school consume your daily life.

Very slow moving shots

Music video
Artist is wearing jumper again but this time it's grey/black
One long continuous shot
Similar dark green colour scheme seen in the other video and album cover

All o the videos do have a clear link between them, they obviously feature the artist himself and he usually wears similar clothing. They were all made to sell the album and help promote the artist himself.

Product Placement?

Blog Post 5 - Andrew Goodwin's Theory

Andrew Goodwin thinks that music  usually has a different
approach when it comes to making videos.
stick to what they're usually know, for example in a
typical rap video you'll most likely find money, cars,
drugs, guns and scantily dressed women. So it's a lot
more performance based . Most Rap Videos don't include a narrative
concept when it comes to the video.

A good example of a rap video that is more performance based would be Caroline by Aminé, the song is about how he likes this girl and wants to get with her. but if you purely watched the video there's no clear indication for that to be the case.

His theory also talks about how Amplification and illustrative.

Amplification would be when the video adds another layer to the song, it does not try to change the genre but in way make the video a little but better for the audience. By that i mean it allows the audience to make their own decision on what's going on ad it's another way to tell the story without directly having to say anything. Illustrative is a way to put emotions into a song and make the audience really feel something, This is done across all genres but mostly in love and rap songs.
a good example of Illustrative would be a little bit more by Jidenna. The song is about a guy that meets a girl then falls in love with her, ends up spending the entire music video looking for her and eventually they meet and dance.

Blog Post 13: Reflection on Progress

From blogging last year i have learnt a number of key tricks that has helped me this year in starting off my blog. Firstly although obvious, Iv'e learnt the importance of actually doing my work. Last year I was laid back, and because of that my course work grade to a massive hit. What could have easily been a B grade was a C grade in my course work last year because I was lazy and childish.

Also I have learnt to always blog. I now constantly carry around a laptop in my bag so i can blog where ever I am. Whether that be on the tube or in Starbucks I constantly feel the urge to blog and keep on top of the work load before it buries me like it did last year.

Finally from last year I have also learnt the importance of using a wide range of different ICT to present my work to gain the best possible grade. So far iv'e used 4 types of presentation methods and plan on adding an even bigger number to that list as the blog progresses.

So far as it stands i would give my self a 16/20. Although not as great as others I feel as if compared to last year its a massive improvement. I feel as if i leave myself a little bit more time to do my work i can fill my blog posts up with more content to gain my self an extra few marks. I also feel as if if i used a few other methods of presented my work i could maybe bump my score up some more. Finally i feel as if i need to work on my spelling and Grammar. I feel as if that was in check I could get a few extra marks.

Blog Post 12: Synergy

Image result for made in the manor album coverImage result for made in the manor album cover
Kano's new album "MADE IN THE MANOR" uses a black and white colour theme, with a bold capitalised font. A good example of synergy is within the music video for "3 Wheel Up" one of the songs on Kano's album "MADE IN THE MANOR". This is inter-textual link between the album cover and the music video is small, subtle but serves its purpose in that the music video is promoting the album. The link to the music video to the album cover is from the jacket that Kano is wearing in the video. Within the Video Kano is seen wearing a black bomber jacket with the words "MADE IN THE MANOR" written in the same bold capitalised font seen from the album cover. This is a good example of synergy because from watching the music video, you instantly start to make links to his album which in turn promotes its release.
